In Eckernförde, a summer hotspot on the Baltic Sea, the artist group SOLID questions the potential of sculpture in a place that is without ties to the classical art scene an “off-space” in a narrow, literal sense.
The exhibition evokes the beloved feelings of freedom, autonomy, and desire specific to holiday destinations, and channels the visitor, searching for a way to carry these feelings home. In a collective sculptural installation like an artistic pop-up store, tourists are given imaginative bridges of memory.
Collages, based on real existing works of the artists, find a new sculptural body in the form of a souvenir. These mementos leave the conventional exhibition space and position themselves in the real life environments of the former vacationers.
In addition to the continuous exhibition in the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus Otte1, there is a daily program that invites vacationers to stroll in the world of art.
